Mel Rodis is a Filipino American and was raised in Phoenix, Arizona. He earned his Juris Doctorate in 2003 from the University of Arizona, James E. Rogers College of Law, and his Master in Business Administration degree in 2009 from the University of Arizona, Eller College of Management. Mel has practiced law in Arizona since 2003, and became licensed to practice on the Navajo Nation in 2017. Mr. Rodis joined the Navajo Nation Department of Justice in 2016 because of his interest in the advancement of social justice and economic development for Native American nations and peoples. Before joining DOJ, he worked as an attorney for migrant and seasonal farmworkers; an attorney for survivors of human trafficking; and had a solo law practice. As the Assistant Attorney General of the Tax and Finance Unit of DOJ, Mr. Rodis represents all of TFU’s assigned clients including the Budget and Finance Committee of the Navajo Nation Council, the Office of the President and Vice President, the Fiscal Recovery Fund Office, the Office of the Controller, the Investment Committee, the Office of Management and Budget, the Office of the Navajo Tax Commission, and the Navajo Department of Retirement Services. He is honored to work with his dedicated and hard-working team members, including Ms. Coreta Keeto, Ms. Adjua Adjei-Danso, Mr. Rudy Anaya, and Ms. Kristen Lowell. Mr. Rodis speaks Spanish and enjoys music, travel, and spending time with family and friends.
